Universal Studios Japan is renowned for its groundbreaking attractions that captivate fans and offer immersive experiences.
These images highlight the intricate environmental and prop designs developed for Resident Evil Biohazard: The Extreme Attraction at Universal Studios Japan.
The challenge was to recreate iconic locations like the Raccoon City Police Station and underground laboratories with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring a seamless translation from digital game environments to a fully realized, real-world experience.
The attraction needed to embody the cinematic atmosphere of the franchise while providing an engaging, immersive experience for visitors.
I teamed up with Adam Milicevic, on faithfully recreating the essence of Resident Evil’s iconic locations.
My approach:
Environment and Prop Design: Developing highly detailed 3D models for both large-scale environments and intricate props, inspired by in-game references. These assets were crafted with such precision that many were 3D printed as life-sized pieces to enhance the physical space.
Lighting and Material Exploration: Experimenting with lighting setups and material finishes to evoke the eerie, cinematic quality of the game. Every element, from textures to reflections, was optimized to enhance the immersive horror experience.
Authenticity and Immersion: Pay special attention to the details that define Resident Evil, including signage, gates, and textures that mirror the in-game assets.
The following set of images illustrates the concept art process, showcasing sketches, concept renders, 3D modeling, and texturing.
